Plain and notch fatigue strength of ductile cast iron GJS600: The role of defect sensitivity

The present work is aimed at exploring the applicability of theory critical distances (TCD) to plain and notch fatigue prognosis ductile cast iron GJS600. Particular attention paid investigating how defectiveness influences material length. It was found that damage triggered by microshrinkage porosity in samples graphite nodules notched samples. This evidence makes cumbersome TCD, which postulates notch-crack equivalence. According this postulate, distance can be inferred from a or cracked specimen configuration.
